Isekai Entertainment's number one goal with Sword Reverie is to bring players into a stylistic fantasy world inspired by JRPG's and anime. They want the world to be inviting and breathtaking. They also want the different regions to be grounded in the reality of real-world biomes and geography. Another thing Isekai is hoping to nail, is the feeling of power you have when playing a JRPG. Especially the adrenaline rush when you launch an ability. However, the team wasn't sure of the best way to trigger an ability. You want it to feel natural in VR. Button presses don't take advantage of what VR has to offer. Beat Saber style gameplay takes away from player agency. Isekai tried out body gesture triggers and it all seemed to click. Using poses to launch abilities is intuitive and makes you feel like a martial artist. It's an experience you can only get in VR.Â
