Allumette is a short, narrative-based experience by Penrose studios, who also brought us The Rose and I. Allumette feels slightly more polished than their previous effort and the story far more engaging. The character models have echoes of almost claymation movement as they tell their tale. The detail and atmosphere of the environment is incredibly immersive and you find yourself exploring this world presented to you by leaning around obstructions to see what is there. Like so many VR narrative experiences, allumette tugs on the heartstrings, but it never feels contrived. Highly recommended.
